About the area

Wymondham

Wymondham town centre
Wymondham has one of the most picturesque shopping centres in the region, boasting more listed buildings of architectural or historic interest than any other Norfolk town of similar size.

The ancient abbey is a focal point for tourists, the gilded altar screen and grand organ among its treasures.

An award-winning railway station, heritage museum, leisure centre and swimming pool are among the attractions.

Nature lovers can enjoy walking beside the River Tiffey or strolling through Toll's Meadows.

The latter was bought in 1994 by the town council and is haven for wildlife. It has a river bridge and path suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

The council is currently creating a new park and leisure facilities at Harts Farm, between the Somerfield superstore and A11 bypass.

The town has a good selection of shops, restaurants, pubs and fast food takeaways. Market day is on Fridays.

Attleborough

Attleborough is one of south Norfolk's busiest market towns boasting a wealth of industry anchored by some of the UK's major employers.

A bustling traditional-style high street has managed to retain a good range of independent, family-run stores.

Attleborough appears to be one of those Norfolk towns which has managed to use the addition of a superstore to its advantage. Unlike the blight suffered by communities of small traders in other towns, the careful location of Sainsbury's has continued to encourage people into the centre of Attleborough to shop.

Also supported are many smaller specialist companies, which offer a range of goods and services which combine to give residents the opportunity to do all their shopping - from a new car to a bag of nails - within the town itself.

Socially Attleborough is alive with the near constant use of the town's Connaught Hall, which is home for many organisations and hosts weekly events open to the public.

With an ever-expanding population, applications for new quality housing is always always an agenda item for Attleborough's busy town council, which meet monthly in a recently refurbished town hall, which is also leased-out to various groups
