Hi there
My parents, still in Watton in the UK sent me a cutting from the Watton and Swaffham Times about the forum so thought I'd log in and tell you my story.
I moved out to Australia about 3 years ago now and have married an Aussie guy and living out in the bush in NSW in a small country town of about 11,000 people. We are about 6 hours SW of Sydney and live on an acre with a lovely 4 bed 'bungalow' (they call them single storeys) with our two boxer dogs.
I work for three local councils in the Engineering dept working on Road Safety Engineering.
It's huge out here. The farms are huge, the sky is huge, the roadkill is huge - no rats or rabbits here, it's 200lb kangaroos! Summer is nearly over now and we're heading towards spring but temps out here over summer have been 40 degrees plus with a couple of weeks touching 47 degrees so a little warmer than home. It also hasn't really rained out here for about 10 years and we're in the middle of a huge drought. We still get the odd day of rain, about 2 in the last 3 months but that's not enough for the farmers out here. Funny 'cos being from the UK I never thought I'd miss the rain... but I do.
If there is anything anyone would like to know about life in Aus just ask.
Hope all is well in 'Blighty'. Still not used to being called a 'Pom' and living down the cricket though.
Best wishes
Sandra Robinson
